Hello! I’m Karen Crum, a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). I completed my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from National University in the Summer of 2019.
I consider psychotherapy to be my third career which means I draw from years of experience.
Career 1 involved earning a master’s degree in Health and Sport Science from Wake Forest University and a doctorate in Public Health and Preventive Care from Loma Linda University. I worked as a Registered Dietician Nutritionist and Certified Health Education Specialist during this phase of life.
Career 2 began in Redding with my husband of 33 years, 2 children and multiple furry friends. This period inspired me to develop a therapeutic program for children with autism (SLATE), and to train parents who have a child with mental illness (NAMI Basics program). As a help to parents, I authored Persevering Parent: Finding Strength to Raise Your Child with Social, Emotional or Behavioral Challenges (2014).
Career 3 is the best yet as I use my experiences to engage with adults, children, couples and families! I am fully trained in EMDR for trauma and use a dynamic, eclectic approach to psychotherapy depending on the needs of each client. It is my joy to watch people grow more confident, strong and balanced. I hope to meet you soon!
