Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Education / Experience:

I received by bachelor’s degree in psychology from Simpson university with honors. After Simpson I went to National University where I received my master’s degree in counseling psychology with honors.

I have extensive experience working with children, teenagers and their parents through my time with the Shasta County Office of Education. This experienced ranged from individual therapy with all age ranges, family therapy and working with parents on positive parenting practices.

Over the last year I have worked with and continue to work with at risk teens.

Professional Focus / Interest:

One of my biggest areas of focus is on modifying the way parents interact with children to strengthen relationships and improve the child’s behavior. I believe that if a parent wants a child’s behavior to change then the parents must be involved in the therapeutic process. My favorite way to work with children is through expressive art therapy.

From an individual counseling perspective, I enjoy working with adults on a wide range of problems such as anxiety, work stress, depression and trauma. I utilize a multitude of techniques when working with these issues, my favorites are mindfulness, cognitive reframing and gestalt therapy.

Family / Personal Life:

I was born and raised in Shasta County. Our community holds a special place in my heart. I am married to a wonderful woman who for some reason keeps me around despite my sense of humor. Together we have one child and she is the apple of my eye.

Why do I love my job?

I love to see people grow. To move past their pain and suffering and become stronger people. To see people pick up the pieces of their life and become whole, healthy and happy makes my heart sing.
